Chapter 12, Page 1, Book 17

Each day comes bearing its own gifts.  Untie the ribbons.

Ruth Ann Schabacker

It’s a new month and I’ve a new theme too.  December is all about gifts and gift giving.  This is the time of year when most of us are preparing for the big day with shopping and gift wrapping, baking and cooking and this year I’m going to try give you some gift suggestions that for the most part won’t cost a cent.

Each day my entries will include something about the gifts we have that can be given away this Christmas and every day if we choose to.

I hope you’ll join me as I prepare for Christmas!

Eight Gift Suggestions that Don’t Cost a Cent

The Gift of Listening

But you must really listen. Don't interrupt, don't daydream, don't plan your response. Just listen.

The Gift of Affection

Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.
The Gift of Laughter

Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, I love to laugh with you.

The Gift of Solitude

There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

The Gift of a Favor

Everyday, go out of your way to do something kind.

The Gift of a Written Note

It can be a simple, Thanks for the help, note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime.

The Gift of a Compliment

A simple and sincere, You look great in red, You did a super job, or that was a wonderful meal, can make someone's day.

The Gift of a Cheerful Disposition

The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone.

Untie the ribbons

i like the idea of eight gifts that don't cost a cent. my favorite is "Everyday, go out of your way to do something kind."

These are all perfect gifts. One size fits all, too. Many times... maybe even most times... our presence is the best present of all.

What a grand idea! It doesn't seem that long ago when a few friends and I would trade letters (snail mail ... imagine!) containing clips of cartoons or anecdotes "just because."

Your theme for December sounds like a great one. This entry was great with the 8 gifts that didn't cause a scent.
