Seeing beauty in the simple things in life

Beauty is a form of genius -- is higher, indeed, than genius, as it needs no explanation. It is of the great facts in the world like sunlight, or springtime, or the reflection in dark water of that silver shell we call the moon.

 Oscar Wilde

Sometimes we get so caught up in our daily routines that we don’t see the beauty that is right in front of us, but it is there when we take the time to look.  We run around with a million things to do every day, and it often takes a tragedy for us to pause and appreciate what’s really important. A loss reminds us of just how fragile and beautiful life is and how important it is to appreciate the people around you.

Beauty even exists in our everyday mundane tasks. Looking at pieces of our everyday lives with a new perspective can bring previously unseen beauty into focus.  This can be as simple as to sit by a window and watch the sunset. Go on a walk in the woods. Look up, look at clouds if you have nothing else accessible to you!

They say you really don’t appreciate what you have until you no longer have it.  So learning to find the beauty in life now, not when it’s gone, is a valuable gift.

Beauty is whatever gives joy.

St. Edna Vincent Millay

wow, how true it is... I fully understand it, I also learned how to appreciate the world around me, when I almost died... And nothing will be the same again!

Each day has beauty in it. We just need to be aware of it.

Yes, there are some days you just MUST stop and look at something 'simply beautiful'.

Since I started blogging I began to take a lot of pictures in my neighborhood. I don't think a day has gone by when I haven't seen trees, sky or something very unexpected that I haven't appreciated. One of the many benefits of blogging. Have a great week!

beauty is indeed everywhere if only we look. "Looking at pieces of our everyday lives with a new perspective can bring previously unseen beauty into focus."

How very true! What I'd give for a "do-over" (or several). Lessons from loss .....

Beauty is everywhere. In the sky, the flowers, and in the faces of children.
