Being mindful of the little things in life
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life.
Life isn't about the big accomplishments, it's the baby steps you take to get there. In the daily rut of becoming and striving we forget to stop and appreciate. Little things that count aren’t selfish, materialistic and don’t come with a report card. The little things lie in our path everyday of every week of every month of every year, but so often we forget to see them. We are so busy, we don’t have time, and we are so impatient we stop keeping track.
It is these little things that I have come to appreciate more and more. Whether that thing is something someone said or did that made you smile, or just a song that makes you happy, it is these things that can make or break a day.
After all, it is the little things in life that can make your life so much more enjoyable! So take the time to appreciate these things that put a smile on your face! You’ll always find a reason to be happy, even if it’s only for a few minutes each day!
The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things.
Henry Ward Beecher
We may think our small acts of kindness, of caring, of helping others are no big deal. We may even not bother to do them because they seem so insignificant. But we would be wrong. Every act of kindness counts; every gesture of caring is meaningful. Nothing is too small; nothing goes unnoticed.
The little mundane regular things, may not matter in your life at this point but they will eventually teach you a lesson; to smile, to be happier and to appreciate the little things in life that are seemingly so routine. So that, even when life gets hard, the little things still matter and your heart still smiles.
Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.
