Chapter 5, Page 6, Book 17

With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts

Eleanor Roosevelt

Picking up the pieces

The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.

Ernest Hemingway

To pick up the pieces is to restore a situation to normality after a crisis or collapse.  That is what I’ve been trying to do here at my house and I’m wondering just what normal is.

When times are tough, and some piece of you is chipped and broken, it’s easy to feel like everything else is broken along with it.  But truth is we can be many things, and remembering this helps so we don’t
completely shatter when a small piece of it gets chipped.

Never forget that, even when times get tough, as they sometimes will, everybody has issues.  Nobody has it easy.   We are all fighting our own unique war.  We aren’t in this alone.

Things turn out best for people who make the best out of the way things turn out.  I may be broken, but I’m not giving up.

I’m picking up the pieces and putting them together again.

Life is a puzzle of decisions and you have to find the right pieces to make it work.

It is a good attitude to have to try to pick up the pieces and go on with what you have to work with. Some times may be easier than others, but moving forward is the best thing to do.

I can't find it now, but a few years ago another blogger shared a story of a broken pot put back together again ... and it being stronger than before. I suppose scars (physical and emotional) are like that as well. A testament, if you will, for having gone on.

Not everyone can handle Change and tragedy. We definitely do not handle it the same. We think you are doing admirably with the recent move and the death of a son on top of that. BUT you will find and use the right formula or code that works for you, I feel confident. ;-)

i think Hemingway got this thing called life right. "The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places." and i'd add some of us struggle. we need to keep looking ahead.
