Chapter 4, Page 30, Book 17

With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts

Eleanor Roosevelt

A smile to start your day. A prayer to bless your way. A song to lighten your burden. A message to wish you good day.

May the Lord bless you and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.

Each morning is enormously important.  It’s the foundation from which the day is built.  How you choose to start your day can be used to predict the kind of day you’re going to have.

If you don’t have a smile, I’ll give you one of mine.

We do not know exactly what the future will bring.  So our best bet for living is to make the best and most positive use of the present.  Our attitude and our actions have a strong effect on the whole day. It’s best to begin with a smile, a calmness of mind and a heart filled with gratitude.

Wake Up

Wake up, sleepy head
Come on, get out of that bed
It’s time to start you day.
O, but don’t forget to pray.

God has give you a night to rest
Thank him because you are blessed
Let His light shine through you
in everything you say and do.

Don’t let not knowing how it will end keep you from beginning today.  Uncertainty chases us out into the open where life’s true magic is waiting.  We may not control all the things that will happen during the day but at least we can control how we start our day.

Just today – just right here, right now.

Trust the timing of your life.

Focus on the present.

And just do the best you can.

When you are no longer able to change a situation, you are challenged to change yourself.  And that changes everything.

Sometimes you have to accept the fact that things will never go back to how they used to be, and that this ending is really another beginning.

To  get up each morning with the resolve to be happy…is to set our own conditions to the events of each day. To do this is to condition circumstances instead of being conditioned by them.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Beautiful Sunday morning thoughts. I like the 'When you cannot change the situation, you are challenged to change yourself. Good thought!

I too liked that thought if you can't change the situation, you are challenged to change yourself. We might not like to do so, but it is necessary if we want to have any pleasure in our lives again.

"May the Lord bless you and protect you ...." It's been many years, but I'd an immediate visual of my uncle-the-pastor standing before his congregation imparting that benediction.

I still sing, "Wake up, wake up you sleepy head ..." but don't recall ever hearing, "Don't forget to pray" and the rest. I'm going to commit that to memory!

i appreciate the words here today. This particularly touched my heart. "Our attitude and our actions have a strong effect on the whole day. It’s best to begin with a smile, a calmness of mind and a heart filled with gratitude."

Focusing on the now is good advice. I've wasted a lot of lifeforce worrying about things that never happened.
