Seek to be whole, not perfect

Oprah Winfrey

The hope of Lent - April 3rd

No one is perfect — that's why pencils have erasers.

Author Unknown

Nobody is perfect and everyone ends up making mistakes at one point of time or another.  That is why perfection should never be a goal to pursue.  Our exasperating chase for perfection frays our peace of mind and spirit. We hold fast to our notion of how things should be and forget to flourish in the present.

Incredible occurrences are recognized as miracles. Life itself, in all forms, is a miracle. We are each a miracle, created and sustained by God but we are a work in progress…none of us is perfect.

You fall, you rise, you make mistakes, you live, you learn.
You’re human, not perfect. You’ve been hurt, but you’re alive.
Think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive t
breathe, to think, to enjoy, and to be with people you love.
Sometimes there is sadness in our journey, but there is also lots of beauty.
We must keep putting one foot in front of the other even when we hurt,
for we will never know what is waiting for us just around the bend.

Ritu Ghalourey

We are all just trying to live our lives as best we can, facing what life throws at us with as much grace as we can muster.

Remember those three little words that can release you from your past mistakes and regrets, and get you back on track.  These words are: From now on…

Maybe they could be a daily reminder for each of us that we should not overreach our goals by trying for perfection. Our goal should be progress, not perfection.

The pursuit of perfection
often impedes improvement.

George Will

I have learned that it is okay if something does not go exactly how I want it too, because I am not meant to be perfect. God is so good and he has a beautiful plan for every single person on this planet. Our goal in life should never be perfection, but to realize that God has a perfect plan for our life.

Hoping means seeing that the outcome you want is possible and then working for it.

That is true that God has a perfect plan for our life and as hard as it may be, it is a good one because he is good all the time.

Funny, those I've regarded at one time or another were also Intimidating. I'd sure hate someone to think that of me (that I was intimidating)!
It's rather fun to think of myself - even after all these years - as a 'work in progress'!
... molded by the Master.

Well, that was silly ...
My first line SHOULD have read, "Those I've regarded at one time or another as perfect ...."

I think Oprah got it right. "Seek to be whole, not perfect."

Perfection keeps people from trying and that is almost tragic.
