The Hope of Lent - March 23rd

There is no medicine like hope, no incentives so great, and no tonics so powerful as the expectation of something better tomorrow.

Orison Swett Marden

Life is a journey. Everything in it is a process. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end. All aspects of life are always developing. Life is motion. Without movement, advancement, and progression, there is no life. In other words, as long as you and I are alive, we are always going to be going somewhere.

They say that if you have not been enjoying the journey of your life, it is time to start. If you have been enjoying your life, then thank God and look for ways to enjoy it even more.

Thankfully, our enjoyment in life is not based on always having enjoyable circumstances. It is an attitude of the heart.  Lent is an invitation toward whole heartedness.  The heart is an ancient metaphor for the seat of our whole being. To be whole hearted means to bring our entire selves before
God, our intellect, our emotional life, our dreams and intuitions, our deepest longings.

Lent a time of renewal, conversion of heart.

Keep your head and your heart going in the right direction and you will not have to worry about your feet.

So true with the attitude of the heart. To have a good one, that does make life enjoyable, no matter the situation.

Marden got it right, "There is no medicine like hope, no incentives so great, and no tonics so powerful as the expectation of something better tomorrow."

Yes, all is a process. Difficult to accept... scary, too. I need to focus on my attitude of the heart, for sure.
