Chapter 12, Page 5, Book 16

At Christmas

A man is at his finest towards the finish of the year;
He is almost what he should be when the Christmas season's here;
Then he's thinking more of others than he's thought the months before,
And the laughter of his children is a joy worth toiling for.
He is less a selfish creature than at any other time;
When the Christmas spirit rules him he comes close to the sublime…
Edgar Guest

If Christmas is going to be everything you dreamed it would be, one word I hope you associate with Christmas is the word love, because Christmas is all about love.

 Love salves our wounds and brings healing to us. This is what Christmas is all about.

One of the most important facets I've learned about love is unselfishness.  I've learned that true love will always adapt and adjust to the needs and desires of other people. It's impossible for people who've truly been reduced to love to be selfish.

As long as we know in our hearts what Christmas ought to be, Christmas is.

Eric Sevareid

Christmas is not about what your home looks like, it's about love and sharing.  Let this Christmas be a time to focus on loving others and loving God. It's a process, but what a perfect time of year to begin taking steps towards making things right with a loved one and with God. It seems that love is what is most important and most memorable.  Christmas is a feeling that is all around us and within us.

Christmas is the perfect time to celebrate the love of God and family and to create memories that will last forever. Jesus is God's perfect, indescribable gift. The amazing thing is that not only are we able to receive this gift, but we are able to share it with others on Christmas and every other day of the year.

Edgar Guest again! Love his thinking and poetry. His way of expressing things was so unique. Love the pictures, I am sure there was no shortage of LOVE in your family!

That was a great quote from Edgar Guest. Our pastor is doing a series about Don't Miss Christmas this year and he is having us focus on making sure our celebrating includes focusing on who Jesus is. I think modeling Jesus' love, daily, especially during the Christmas season, is so very important if we want to live a life that is kind, compassionate, merciful all combined with love.

Love that image of your grands making snow angels! That's one of my own favorite memories, growing up in 'snow country.'

I've been thinking of asking DH to consider extending the gift of forgiveness to certain family members... to remember the Big Picture. I suppose Love doesn't mean endorsing someone's decisions, but caring more about who they are.
