Chapter 10, Page 31, Book 16

Jealousy is the worst self expression; it is confirming your belief someone else is more valuable than you. The less you judge others, the less you will compare yourself. There is no greater or more remarkable Life than your own.

 Marrett Green
October 31st - Beware the green eyed monster

From ghoulies and ghosties
And long-leggedy beasties
And things that go bump in the night,
Good Lord, deliver us!
Scottish Saying

Happy Halloween!  It’s All Hallows Eve and so I got to thinking about the monsters in our life and Jealousy, the Green Eyed Monster, is definitely one of those.  Jealousy is an emotion we can do with out. When you are jealous of someone else, your positive attitude suffers.

When tempted to compare yourself to anyone who is more beautiful or successful than most, you have a choice. You can choose to admire their fine attributes or let the green eyed monster have its way. If you choose jealousy, you will become negative, learn to doubt yourself and cultivate both fear and anger. But, when you choose admiration, you nurture an inner awe and wonder, which is too often lost as children grow into adults.

Envy is one of the most potent causes of unhappiness. It is a universal and most unfortunate aspect of human nature because not only is the envious person rendered unhappy by his envy, but also wishes to inflict misfortune on others.

Bertrand Russell

The antidote or way to get rid of this monster is to turn jealousy into admiration. Stop comparing yourself to those with wonderful qualities. Replace negative feelings with appreciation and admiration, and appreciation of your own great qualities will grow!

My experience has taught me that the only way you will be happy is if you are happy with who you are and with what you have.

Memorable Moment:  Maxine jokes, they always make me smile.

Maxine is great, you are right, she always makes us smile. Learned in my later years to be content with what I have and not to be jealous of others. I have been incredibly blessed and am so grateful.

Jealousy can make one's life miserable. One of those shameful periods in my life, and one period I am definitely not proud of. Thankfully we both lived thru it. :-(.

But a true post!

PS: I have never been jealous of what others had, but protectively Jealous of what I had. Comes from marrying as a teenager I guess.
