Chapter 10, Page 13, Book 16

You learn something every day if you pay attention.

Ray LeBlond

October 13th - So much to learn... and give... in life.

All of life is a constant education.

Eleanor Roosevelt

I’ve found that no matter how old you are there is always something new to learn every day.  It seems that even at my age, the journey of growth and discovery continues.  But we need to remember that to be taught any subject requires openness. Openness to new things. To not being an expert. To change.

There are a lot of good, practical reasons to make learning something new a part of your daily routine, but the best reason has nothing to do with practicality. We are learning creatures, and the lifelong practice of learning is what makes us humans and our lives worthwhile.  Learning helps us more easily and readily adapt to new situations.  Learning makes us more confident.

Sometimes we need only take notice of the things around us to discover learning opportunities.  When we pay close attention to how the sun rises each morning, we can learn something new about nature and how perfectly the world was designed. We see how the colors of the sun’s rays vary depending on the morning’s weather. And with the entire world of knowledge just a few mouse clicks away, it has never been easier than it is right now to learn something new and unexpected every day.

It's a mistake, when life hands you a tough lesson, to think that you can get back at life by not learning it.

Robert Brault

Memorable moment:  Got 3 more storage bins…getting a lot of sorting out done. And this time all the lids fit!  Keeping only the things that are beautiful, meaningful and useful.

Glad all the lids fit, Ma, you have a good sorting system. I continue to learn something new every day at work with a new word, etc. Good that we still have the ability to do so.

That last paragraph says a lot. Anyone who has never 'really downsized their 'stuff'', doesn't know how tough some decisions are.

Oh yes, we should keep learning, I have driven over a million nails and built many houses, but this little house has taught me something new.

Good to know you are fighting the good fight and sorting through. I can imagine you have sat and held things that brought back some great memories. Life is good.
