Chapter 8, Page 20, Book 16

A gentle word, like summer rain,
May soothe some heart and banish pain.
What joy or sadness often springs
From just the simple little things!

Willa Hoey

August 20th - Encouragers pick others up when troubles weigh them down.

We all need friends who pick us up, and we all know of others who need our encouragement. Like a fresh breeze on a hot day, we can all do our part to bring hope and a change in perspective to someone that needs it.

I’ve had many occasions to feel the fresh breeze of encouragement from family and friends and know just how important it is.  Hopefully I will also send just a bit of that your way too.

Fred Rogers said, When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.

It’s true, no matter where you go or what circumstances you are in there are helpers all around us.  It’s always amazing to see how many people flock to help in times of disaster.  Not every one can help in the same way but thankfully many try to do what they can when help is needed.

It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.

We all have the means to bestow on others the most lavish gifts; love, joy, peace, hope, kindness, acceptance, encouragement, laughter, forgiveness, time. There is not enough money to buy them and not too little money to give them. The more you spend, the wealthier you become; yet nothing will cost you more than what you freely possess to give.

It is always good ro encourage and get encouragement from others. A kind word to hear is so soothing at times.

I'd forgotten that quote from Fred Rogers ... what a wise woman, his mother!

It does my heart good to see the grass-roots organizations on FB, coming together to provide aid to those affected by the flooding in Louisiana.

Beautiful post. Jilda and I donated to the Catholic Relief Services there for the flood victims. I can't imagine what they are going through.

Love the idea to "encourage each other to discover their uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression."
