Chapter 7, Page 8, Book 16

It’s not so much what we have in this life that matters. It’s what we do with what we have. The alphabet is fine, but it’s what we do with it that matters most. Making words like friend and love. That’s what really matters.

Mr. Rogers

July 8th - It’s more important to be happy than to be rich

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are

Teddy Roosevelt

The day we stop appreciating what we’ve already got and the life we have, is the day we become miserable, unhappy, and no fun to be around.   Being happy is a decision, regardless of your circumstances.

Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.

Oscar Wilde

Money is only a means to an end and it's the end that really matters.  If you fill your life with people who love you, with friends who will walk through life with you, and you'll never be poor.

If you love your children in a way they actually feel loved, and your whole family will be rich beyond imagination.

You can't buy the life experiences necessary for wisdom.  If you can fall in love every day, twice a day even, then be smart and do so. Love freely and love passionately, and you will never in your life feel richer.

If you can look back at your life and say you maximized every moment, you squeezed the life out of every opportunity, then you are richer than you know.

I don’t have a lot but I have everything I need. The 3 things that really matter in my life are my faith, my family and my friends.  I can’t imagine a life without any of them.

It’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters.

Most of the things that make us happy with our lives don’t cost money. And many of the things in our lives that do cost money don’t carry really big price tags.

Being rich, having lots of money, certainly isn’t the perfect solution to living a great life.  There are so many other things we could be focusing on instead. The only thing that really matters in this life, when everything is stripped away, is love.  Love is the only currency in the world that is both invaluable and abundant.

You know, all that really matters is that the people you love are happy and healthy. Everything else is just sprinkles on the sundae.

Again, this is common sense to most folk, but for some reason it escapes us at times. I like the idea of appreciating what you have. We try to do that, and when we do life flows so much better. BUT alas, at times we stray with the 'What if?' ...... but, but we soon come back to reality. Good health, love and friends make a happy life!

At the end, all of us leave the world with nothing, just like we came into the world with nothing. All we can take with us is the love we leave through family and friends and the legacy created that way. I rather be known for that then known for any riches I might have.

I agree with this completely. "It’s what we do with what we have. "
