Chapter 6, Page 3, Book 16

Always Remember

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.

But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.

But don't forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that have passed away.

But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

June 3rd - Remember the blessings God has given you.

I love the poem above and have used it more than once on my blog. I’ve heard it said that it’s important to memorize a favorite poem so that you can call it up out of the memory bank and use it when times are tough and for me this would be one of them.

We do need to remember the things that make us glad.  Too often we can get caught up with the sad things in life, and they can bring us down.  The blessings we receive daily can lift us up when we remember them.  They can change our frowns into smiles.

He who makes time precious lives forever.

 Peter Megargee Brown

Precious moments are all too few.  We think at the time that we're going to remember them forever, but life is busy and the days fly by.  It seems that it’s often these moments that change our lives.  We can never have these moments back again, but we can remember them and give thanks for them too.

Life is too short to not appreciate every little experience.

So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.

I do like that always poem and the advice about memorizing poems to recite when times are tough, Bible verses are good for that too.

Perfect advice and inspiration for my life right now. "Always remember to forget
The troubles that have passed away. But never forget to remember the blessings that come each day."

Very few days pass without us stating how blessed we are. WE are constantly amazed.

My parents strongly encouraged me to memorize poetry and there are still a number of poems that have stayed with me. On September 11 I was with a colleague who knew a number of the Psalms by heart and recited some of them. I can't begin to tell you how calming that was.
