Chapter 6, Page 23, Book 16

SLOW DOWN

Have you ever watched kids on a merry go round,
or listened to rain slapping the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight,
or gazed at the sun fading into the night?

You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.

Do you run through each day on the fly,
when you ask "How are you?", do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed,
with the next hundred chores running through your head?

You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.

Ever told your child, we'll do it tomorrow,
and in your haste, not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch, let a friendship die,
'cause you never had time to call and say hi?

You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere,
you miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,
it's like an unopened gift thrown away.

Life isn't a race, so take it slower,
hear the music before your song is over.

June 23rd - getting off the merry go round

When you're on a merry go round, you miss a lot of the scenery.

 Neil Diamond

There are times that we find ourselves going round and round in circles, getting no where fast.  As hard as we try, there are no answers.  Sometimes finding the answer is as easy as taking a break and stepping back from the situation.

It’s only when you stop and get off the merry go round of daily life that your mind and body can once again get back into sync.  Your life will not stop reeling out of control until you stop allowing it. Stop. Be Still. Allow yourself to focus without distractions.

It’s amazing what you see when you slow down, stop, and … LOOK UP!

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

So true that we need to slow down especially if we want to enjoy all that life has to offer. Easy sometimes to go at a really fast pace to get things done and then realize how the body just needs a bit of relaxing time to slow down.

We all are guilty of this. Slowing down is the key. "When you worry and hurry through your day, it's like an unopened gift thrown away."

It is strange how we humans get ourselves in a TIZZY, and looking back ask ourselves, WHY? It is good to take inventory to see if 'I' am learning to 'take a NEW stride'. To be honest, it is tough.
