Chapter 6, Page 2, Book 16

One of the greatest gifts
That life can give to anyone
Is the very special love that families share...
As years go by,
It's good to know that there will always be
Certain people in our lives who care.
For there are countless things
That only families have in common
And memories that no one else can make...
And these precious ties that bind a family together
Are bonds that time and distance cannot break.
How fortunate we are
When we have relatives to love us,
It makes the world a happy place to be...
Few gifts in life
Will last as long
Or touch the heart as deeply
As the very special gift
Of family.

June 2nd - the value of family

Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.

Anthony Brandt

Some of us have a large family and some of us have just a few members of our family, some of our friends are family and some of our family are friends.  I can never be thankful enough for my family and hope to never downplay the importance of it.

Families give us our beginnings and endings.  The circle of life goes on and on.

He that raises a large family does, indeed, while he lives to observe them, stand a broader mark for sorrow; but then he stands a broader mark for pleasure too.

Benjamin Franklin

In the family we learn of the bonds which unite us, of fidelity and faithfulness.  Families are where we learn values, skills, and behavior. A family is where we learn to love.  Friends and family are people who stick by you no matter what happens. They care about you. They love you.

We learn values like community and forgiveness and how to work together as a team.  We should never forget and always remember to value the importance of family.

So much of what is best in us is bound up in our love of family, that it remains the measure of our stability because it measures our sense of loyalty. All other pacts of love or fear derive from it and are modeled upon it.

So true the importance of family, no matter how small one's family might be.

I came on over without waiting for the alert. I am wondering why the alerts are so late once we post.
Anyway, you are right about family and of course Ben Franklin is also right about the sorrow and pleasure. My son was hurt yesterday in a fall, he is patched up now, but yes family concern does also bring sorrow and pain. HOWEVER the joy of the son is much greater than the sorrow.

My family is my whole world! I've learned, however, blood doesn't always mean "family".
I love this post.

My family is scattered around the country so we do not get to spend alot of time together. So I appreciate it so much more when we do. "Families give us our beginnings and endings." you are right.
