Chapter 4, Page 19, Book 16

My first thought in the morning, is thank you for another day.

 Karon Waddell

April 19th - Thankfulness is the soil in which joy thrives.

Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.

Marianne Williamson

Life is not perfect, and every moment is not filled only with wonderful things. But life changes dramatically, and for the better, when you realize that your circumstances do not determine your experience of life, your attitude does!

We don’t get a chance to hide or pretend when the bottom falls out of our lives.

When we get bad news or a health scare, someone dies, or our finances collapse, all our great words about faith are worthless.  What matters is what we do in those circumstances.

One joyful thought starts a chain reaction, just as a ready smile invites others to smile too.   JOY is a defense against so many of life’s struggles.

We tend to make gratitude and joy conditional events, attaching the word ‘when' to feelings of thankfulness and joy. When everything in life comes together the way we want it to, we rationalize, then we’ll be grateful and joyful.

Too many times, our present or past circumstances subtly shape our attitudes and feelings, and fill our conversations.

Living a life where we give thanks is key to our happiness. Thankfulness lifts us from looking down, up towards the heavens, where our happiness is secured.

When we choose to deliberately focus on what we are thankful for, it changes our outlook in life. There are things to be glad about in every situation, but we have to be looking for them.  That’s what thankful people do, they count their blessings rather than wasting time grumbling and complaining.

Whatever you’re dealing with this week, whatever frustrations come your way… count it as joy!

I like that last line of yours, Ma. Thankful people thank instead of grumbling and complaining. So true there will be tough times in our lives and we just need to still find the joy in things around us, the beauty of what God created, the smile of a loved one, etc., but there is joy even in the hardest of times.

Love this, "your circumstances do not determine your experience of life, your attitude does!" so true!
