Chapter 12, Page 10, Book 15

Keep a good heart. That's the most important thing in life. It's not how much money you make or what you can acquire. The art of it is to keep a good heart.

Joni Mitchell

December 10th - keeping love in your heart

The message of the Christmas tree, therefore, is that life is 'ever green' if one gives: not so much material things, but of oneself: in friendship and sincere affection, and fraternal help and forgiveness, in shared time and reciprocal listening.

Christmas carols are in the air, and the shopping is now being followed by gift wrapping, parties, and perhaps opportunities to 'give back' by working in food pantries, toy drives, and visiting shutins.

The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others' burdens, easing other's loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas.

 W. C. Jones

Right here, in our midst, day in and day out, not just at Advent, we are encouraged to immerse ourselves in this season of preparation, and to find meaning in the journey itself, and its anticipation of what is to come, to look  afresh at our lives, our priorities and preoccupations, our style of living.

More and more, I’m convinced that paying attention is the most important work we can do. To be present to the people and the moments God has entrusted to us.

Accomplishments are the ornaments of life, they come second.

Willa Cather

There are times in life one must fight to keep love in their heart, but in the end it is worth every effort.
Just to correct some misunderstanding, I have a couple G-Grand kids that don't mind a fit or a pout. (smile)
We have one family down already, it was sweet to see them. Looks like they will have good weather...

So true for us to be paying attention and to be present to do perhaps what God wants us to do. I think especially we need to be during this busy season when we can just get so side tracked with this and that; that's when it is really needed to be aware of other's needs to try to help as we can.
