Chapter 12, Page 1, Book 15

What happy faces do we see,
Their cares forgotten everyone,
This is the way it ought to be
From dawn until the set of sun.
These blessed days of joy and peace,
Bedecked with wonder, set apart,
Through all our years will never cease,
If we keep Christmas in our heart!

Grace E. Easley

December 1 - the presence of love creates JOY

We surround ourselves with glittering preparations for Christmas, the smells of pine trees and apple cider, the joyful noise of Christmas carols and the taste of turkey and sweet potato pie.  We see 'visions of sugar plums' and we feel our desire for that new gadget!

Someone once said, we work so hard, and yet we as humans do not have enough time to enjoy what we work for. If joy is leaking out of your life faster than you can pour it in. If your job has become a challenge, if your friendships are falling apart, if your stress is going up and your peace is spinning down, I have good news.  Advent is a season of JOY.

We’re talking armloads, boatloads, truckloads of joy. It may not come gift wrapped or rolled in sugar, but that kind of joy doesn’t last very long.

There's a candle in my window
With its halo of bright gold,
Telling with each tiny flicker
Of the joy each heart can hold.
At this joyous Christmas season
For each passer-by to see,
Ponder on his way and reason,
This is just as it should be.

Ruth Scott Hubbard

Advent is a season of new beginnings. True joy comes to those who learn to follow and trust the Lord to help them through life’s journey

Have a blessed Advent Season and may the JOYs of the season enrich your life and the lives of those around you

The joy of brightening other lives, bearing others' burdens, easing other's loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas.

W. C. Jones

Spirit of Peace, you dwell in my heart.

Spirit of Love, you make me whole.

Spirit of Joy, you teach me to serve.

YOU had to say it, Sweet Potato Pie. Of course the entry is good, but at times just one or two words can send my mind on a journey. It has been MANY years, but I will never forget my mama's sweet potato pie. It is always there to think about but it has been a long time since it was brought to the front. THANKS.
Leaving for Florida in a bit.

That is so true that true joy comes from trusting in the Lord. I do remember, maybe I shared it with you already, one time waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, but remembering just being filled with joy in knowing Jesus, even though at the time it was a very stressful time for us. Joy indeed can be found even in the midst of stress, etc.
