Chapter 10, Page 13, Book 15

The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.

The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.

 Emily Dickinson

October 13th - love the moments

A desire to be observed, considered, esteemed, praised, beloved, and admired by his fellows is one of the earliest as well as the keenest dispositions discovered in the heart of man.

John Adams

Today, the present moment, we are living a moment in time spaced between where we have come from and where we are going.  Each moment is a gift and it’s up to us what we are going to do with it.

While dwelling on the past and living for the future are common pastimes, it is physically impossible to live anywhere but the present moment.

While October brings us many sunny blue sky days, the dull dark days of fall and winter will soon be here.  We’ll be having some dark and and some not so bright days as they were in the summer.  They do make me feel like I need to put a trinket on to add a little sparkle to them.

It is not the position, but the disposition.

J. E. Dinger

We might have had brighter days in the past and sometimes there will be even darker days ahead, but today we’re putting a trinket on to dispel the darkness of the moment.

This can be by something you wear, or it can come from a bright piece of jewelry.  It can also come from your choice of attitude.  Attitude is everything.  It can brighten the day just like the sunshine.

Our attitudes not only affect us, but they touch the lives of everyone we come into contact with.  A sunny disposition makes the world a bright and cozy place for those around us.

When you take life one day at a time, you will live your life without having to wait for the future or yearn for the past. Life happens to us when we happen to life in the present moment.

Remember:  The beautiful sun,  our sun,  God's sun,  always fights its way through. It never gives up. It never does, because it keeps shining until it has a chance to reach us.

The pictures are of some of the sunrises that have brighten my mornings.

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.

Emily says it so well, I am glad you put that at the top. Then you said:
Attitude is everything. It can brighten the day just like the sunshine.*******

You are so right. And especially now, I am loving the Moments!
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

Such pretty sunrises! So true that each moment and each breath we have are gifts. We need to seize the moment so to speak and live boldly in love and trust in God and make each day count the best we can.

Your sunrises are beautiful. Attitude makes the day, year and our life. Wishing you a terrific Tuesday!

Being here now is something that does not come easy. Most of the time when I feel anxious, depressed, or miffed, it's usually rooted in the past or the future.
When you stop to consider NOW, you realize as you say, that it's a gift.
