Chapter 7, Page 29, Book 15

A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.

Leonard Nimoy

It would be great if we could preserve our memories by sealing them in a jar to have on view when ever we want.  For me pictures do just that.  One picture can say a thousand words when it opens up a corner in my mind full of memories.

My grandmother had a fruit cellar where she put all the bounty from her garden sealed in jars and place on the shelves.  I can still remember them and the coolness of the cellar.  When you opened up a jar of pickles or beets, you could taste the freshness straight from her garden.

But those jars didn’t fill themselves.  It took a lot of TLC.  That is the way it is in life.  If we want to preserve some good memories we need to take the time to love, to give others some tender loving care.

One thing about having lots of good memories is that you have to make them happen .  All the little things in life that make life worth while turn out to be great things when done with love.

Memories help us to manage time past, enhance time in the present, and provide continuity and meaning for times to come.

That is so true about memories, Ma; we need to preserve them after we make them and we need to always cherish them.

Talking about opening a jar of memories, YOU SURE DID!
Yes is is amazing what stirs the memories. Our is the Screen savers, Our thousands of pictures 'slide show' thru, not all, but MANY stir a world of memories...
As always, you create a THINKER!

You stirred the memory of my grandma's fruit cellar. It was small, but packed with jars of fruits, vegetables and meats that she canned in her mason jars. I loved climbing down there to pick out a jar of her peaches for her to make a peach pie with.
What a great post!
Love,
Debbie

Gosh I haven't thought about a cellar in years. Reminded me of the one I grew up with and all the memories.
