Chapter 4, Page 12, Book 15

When you see someone in need,
  Love demands a loving deed;
Don't just say you love him true,
Prove it by the deeds you do.

April 12 - Love is compassionate

If we make our goal to live a life of compassion and unconditional love, then the world will indeed become a garden where all kinds of flowers can bloom and grow.

Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross

Compassion is an essential part of everyday life. Compassion is the greatest form of love humans have to offer.

Being compassionate is a way we show our love to one another.  Every day we have a chance to be considerate to friends, family and strangers.  Simple gestures of affection, even a pat on the hand, can help ease strain and show our genuine compassion, to be understanding and above all, love unconditionally.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.
If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

Dalai Lama

Compassion is a combination of love and understanding. Compassion is where you know everything about someone, and you still like that person.  Not all people need the same thing from us. One of our children, for example, may need more of our personal time than the others. One of our friends may need more encouragement on a regular basis than another.

A compassionate person understands when someone needs a hug. A compassionate person can see when someone is having a difficult time and can relieve the upset with small moments of celebration and joy.

Remember that being compassionate involves caring for others and ourselves. I don’t think we can be good for others if we are not first good to ourselves.    If you take time for yourself, you’ll find you have plenty of time to give to others.

Tip for today :  Get involved. You don’t want to miss a chance to do a good deed or to share love with another living thing

Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.

So true that we must be compassionate with others and show mercy and caring as we can. A simple opening the door for an older person or offering to take back their cart to the store is an act of compassion I'm sure that is appreciated. So many other things we can do daily too to show compassion to those we love and those we might encounter.

Love your sentence, "Compassion is where you know everything about someone, and you still like that person."

I think lots of folks (myself included!) often confuse compassion and pity. After reading this, I'll not make that mistake again!

Nice blog entry! Compassion is something we all need and it would change the world. We all get lost in our selfish ambitions. And that is not what God wants. Hope you have a great week!

I think that quote from Maya Angelou says it all. "Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud."
