Chapter 2, Page 7, Book 15

You're a nobody till somebody loves you.
You're nobody till somebody cares…

February 7th - Somebody loves you

Everyone Needs Someone

People need people and friends need friends
And we all need love for a full life depends
Not on vast riches or great acclaim,
Not on success or on worldly fame,

But just in knowing that someone cares
And holds us close in their thoughts and prayers-
For only the knowledge that we're understood
Makes everyday living feel wonderfully good,

And we rob ourselves of life's greatest need
When we "lock up our hearts" and fail to heed
The outstretched hand reaching to find
A kindred spirit whose heart and mind

Are lonely and longing to somehow share
Our joys and sorrows and to make us aware
That life's completeness and richness depends
On the things we share with our loved ones
and friends.

Someone that cares will ask you how your day was.  Someone that cares will tell you things that matter to them. Someone that cares wants to see you, to spend time with you.  So cherish the people who care about you, and do not invest your time, and your heart, into people who do not.

I’ve known some that spend a whole lot of wasted time caring about others that don’t care at all about them.  Just think about how we waste time worrying what others might think of what we do or say.  That is wasted time.

When someone truly cares about you they make an effort, not an excuse. Never ignore someone who cares for you because someday you'll realize you've lost a diamond while you were busy collecting stones.  If a person wants to be a part of your life, they will make an obvious effort to do so.  Think twice before reserving a space in your heart for people who do not make an effort to stay.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.

This one is a thinker, humans many times ask, "How are you?" out of habit, not out of care or love.
So you have me thinking down another road. GOOD!

I think that line from theold song is very true:
"You are nobody until somebody Loves you!"

I like your last line, Ma, about thinking twice about reserving a space in my hear for someone who doesn't make an effort to stay. That is great advice. Enjoyed also the poem from Helen Steiner Rice.

Yup, I'm one of those who lost a diamond while searching for stones.
Heartache, but it's (hopefully) instilled a keener awareness and appreciation for what remains.

And I have been singing:
You are nobody until somebody loves you.. Wasn't that Dean Martin? I should look that up! I will.

Yes it was! :)

This hits home for me on so many levels. I have many people in my life that do not make the effort unless they want something. It is disheartening for sure. The quote I like in your post is this, "The outstretched hand reaches out to find a kindred spirit whose heart and mind are lonely and longing to somehow share."
