Chapter 12, Page 7, Book 14

Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.

Jack Canfield

We need to take a break from the busyness of this hectic time and remind ourselves that Jesus really is the reason for the season.

Many believe that spending a life waiting is not a life well spent, and so we rush through life. In waiting we are forced to slow down, and in slowing down we gain perspective on the significance of this season which brings us back to wonder. The awesome wonder of the coming of Jesus is what this season is about, just wait for it.

My hope is that these quotes and thoughts about waiting inspire you to wait well, to find a manner of waiting that brings joy.  There’s no limit to what you can do to observe Advent, nor any requirement that you observe it in a particular way . But if you could use an extra dose of peace and joy this Christmas season, try commemorating Advent in a way that makes sense for your life and situation. You’ll find that time spent focusing on meaning of the season  will put the rest of your hectic holiday schedule in a healthy perspective. It is my fervent hope this holiday season that no matter what our spiritual leanings are, that we are all working toward and being the most loving, compassionate people we can be.

If you aren't a naturally happy person, take time each day to cultivate that which brings you happiness.

Many of the happiest people on earth are also those coping with the most serious challenges. They have learned to make time for those simple yet superb pleasures that can be enjoyed quickly and easily. Cultivating a happy heart takes no more than five minutes.

Alone, we can enjoy an aromatic cup of our favorite tea, take a stroll through the garden we have created, write about the day's events in a journal, doodle while daydreaming, or breathe deeply while we listen to the silence around us.

It is often when we have the least free time or energy to devote to joy that we need to unwind and enjoy life the most.

To give anything less than your best is to give away the gift.

It is such a busy season. I love the times I can slow down and really enjoy and think about the reason for the season...JESUS!! One of my favorite things is a LIVE NATIVITY!! It's such a humbling experience!

I like what you are sharing here, Ma, because I definitely need peace and joy this Christmas season and every Christmas season! The pastor talked about peace last night at church during the time before Christmas, so I think it is a message God wants me to get :)

Of course in the waiting it is so important that the youth coming up know the reason for the season. YOu cannot take Christ out of Christmas, if one does there is no Christmas.
