Chapter 10, Page 17, Book 14

God Knows Best

by Helen Steiner Rice

Our Father knows what's best for us,
So why should we complain
We always want the sunshine,
But He knows there must be rain

We love the sound of laughter
And the merriment of cheer,
But our hearts would lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear...

Our Father tests us often
With suffering and with sorrow,
He tests us, not to punish us,
But to help us meet tomorrow...

For growing trees are strengthened
When they withstand the storm,
And the sharp cut of a chisel
Gives the marble grace and form...

God never hurts us needlessly,
And He never wastes our pain
For every loss He send to us
Is followed by rich gain...

And when we count the blessings
That God has so freely sent,
We will find no cause for murmuring
And no time to lament...

For our Father loves His children,
And to Him all things are plain,
So He never sends us pleasure
When the soul's deep need is pain...

So whenever we are troubled,
And when everything goes wrong,
It is just God working in us
To make our spirit strong.

Catch fire today!
Make today the day
you stop complaining
and do something!
Steve Harvey

Complaining really never accomplishes anything.  It’s another one of those useless things like worry.  We can complain all we want, but complaints don’t make for good results. Complaining affects our brains and our physical health negatively

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of a quiet moan from time to time but when complaining becomes part of our natural way of life it can steal our joy. I think we have to watch out for those JOY stealers like criticism, fault finding and complaining.  Keeping a positive attitude is often very hard when these things steal away our joy.

To me having a joyful attitude means being conscious of our blessings and not complaining about problems.  I don’t gloss over and pretend the bad stuff doesn’t happen, but try remember just how blessed I am.

If you have time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to do something about it.

Anthony J. D'Angelo

Criticism, fault finding and complaining are JOY stealers. LOVE the way you put that.

It is a shame that some folk seem to find their joy, in complaining. What an empty and pitiful joy and entertainment.
We are enjoying a beautiful cool but sunny day!

So true about those joy stealers and complaining definitely would be on top of the list! I did like that poem from Helen Steiner Rice, so very true words she wrote.

I think you put it so well - it is not that things aren't rough at times - but when you look for the positives it helps a whole lot.
