Chapter 8, Page 8, Book 14

Life is like a spiral staircase.  With each step we climb, we gain greater and greater perspective.

Staircases can be compared to our life experiences: some are simple, some are extravagant, and some are difficult to go though.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Like a curved staircase, we often have to experience twists and turns in our lives that seem to go round in circles as we are experiencing them. When we look back on the experience, however, we can see that all those turns led to an end point that was our goal.

Life is a series of steps. Things are done gradually. Once in a while there is a giant step, but most of the time we are taking small, seemingly insignificant steps on the stairway of life.

Ralph Ransome

I do think we need to take life one step at a time.  One day at a time.

Life is a journey up a spiral staircase; as we grow older we cover the ground covered we have covered before, only higher up; as we look down the winding stair below us we measure our progress by the number of places where we were but no longer are. The journey is both repetitious and progressive; we go both round and upward.

William Butler Yeats

When I was learning relaxation techniques after an automobile accident, I had to visualize myself slowly walking down a staircase. So I like this analogy.

This was a new one to read about life is like a staircase, but I do agree, it is to be taken one step at a time.
