Chapter 5, Page 25, Book 14

Day is done, gone the sun

From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh.

Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar, drawing near
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise for our days
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky
As we go, this we know

God is nigh.

Day 37 of 50:  MEMORIAL DAY

Just in case you thought it was National BBQ Day…

Today we Americans give thanks for this holiday weekend and for those who have given their lives in the service of their country.  Memorial Day can also be a reminder to us that there are thousands of servicemen and women presently deployed to troubled parts of the world and they do deserve our prayers, and so do their families

On this Memorial Day, we pray for all those who have died in service of God and country, and for all those who continue to serve in military forces around the world.  May the Lord bless them and keep them safe in the faith.

Please join me in taking time out to pause at 3:00 pm local time for a minute of respectful silence for those who have died in the service of our nation.  Maybe say a prayer, perhaps listen to Taps, and remember the people who gave their lives serving their country.

Today I’m thankful for:

1703. for our Cutie Patootie, she’s a cute one for sure!
1704. for all the great memories made this weekend
1705.  for time to be with loved ones, to share their special days

It’s been a beautiful 3 day holiday weekend here with something going on each day.  A birthday, a baptism and a baby shower.  Everyone is taking advantage of the weather and spending lots of time outdoors too.  I hope you all have a great Memorial Day!

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

I always feel a little sad when I hear TAPS being played. Truly a day to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. We tried to visit where hubby's parents are buried at a military cemetery yesterday but it was having its Memorial Day Ceremony and it was packed, we couldn't get in, which was "nice" in a way to see so many people coming out to honor those who died in service.
