Chapter 5, Page 10, Book 14

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by every moment that takes your breath away.

Day 20 of 50:. Listen to Handel’s Messiah and other Easter music.

George Frideric Handel's Messiah was originally an Easter offering. It burst onto the stage of Musick Hall in Dublin on April 13, 1742. The audience swelled to a record 700, as ladies had heeded pleas by management to wear dresses without hoops in order to make room for more company.

It’s so hard to imagine that to this day many still enjoy the wonderful music of Handles Messiah.  It’s truly something that will last throughout the ages.  I think that it is  music's most powerful message of faith.

I have to say that our church is blessed with a wonderful choir and a very talented music minister too.  There have been times I’ve been blessed the hear them sing this wonderful piece of music and they do it beautifully.  It always takes my breath away.

Life isn't how many breaths you take, but it's the moments that take your breath away.

Every now and then, and more often than we realize, God breaks into the routine and gives us one of those awesome moments, so powerful, so amazing, so beautiful that time seems to stand still.

Today I’m thankful for:

1655. for DDIL#5, we celebrate her birthday today
1656.  for the wonderful warm days we are having, finally the chill is off
1657. for longer daylight hours to enjoy

Giving thanks can help us want to take —
the next breath.

That is interested about Handel's Messiah; I always think of it for Christmas. How cute too that the ladies were encouraged to "dress down" so more could fit. It truly is a magnificient musical piece. I haven't heard it in a few years; might have to take the suggestion here to listen to it during this post Easter season.

My husband is a classical music buff. He loves Handel's Messiah, though like betty said, it is usually done here around Christmas, too.
