Chapter 7, Page 13, Book 13

How doth the little busy bee
Improve each shining hour,
And gather honey all the day
From every opening flower!

Isaac Watts, "Divine Songs"

Specially blended for a buzz

In summer, the song sings itself.

William Carlos Williams

Do you ever take the time out of your busy life to sit and be still and just listen to the birds chirping and the trees rustling?

Sometimes I enjoy watching the bees buzzing along in our backyard. That is, as long as they don't get too close to me.  Summer nights buzz with the sounds of wildlife. Crickets chirp. Cicadas hum.

Welcome to the hot sounds of the singing bugs of summer. Hot summer temperatures here are bringing out the bugs

Thunderstorms can also occur in the summer more than any other time and believe you me, it's been noisy here.  We had well over two weeks worth, one storm following the other.  These storms hit hard and fast and result in a lot of flooding too.  We live in pretty flat country but when the rain comes down quickly roads flood easily.

I'd rather be sitting on a beach somewhere in the sun, listening to the waves gently roll in and out, but that is not to be.  Although we are to experience a break in the rain here for a few days, here in northern Ohio the summer song is buzzing, clashing and banging along.

Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is the lightning that does the work.

 Mark Twain

I love listening to the sounds of summer. A great pastime, for sure. It goes along with porch sitting.

Yes the term busy as a bee, is very appropriate. Lots of stories about the Bee, a fantastic creation. Can sting but also produce a pure sweetness.

I am one who LOVES thunder/lightening storms.

Yes lying still in the garden and the birds put on a great show. We do reward them well with plenty of food and water.
