Chapter 5, Page 28, Book 12

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

From a headstone in Ireland

Memorial Day, first observed in 1868, is about remembering those who gave their lives so we might enjoy ours

Today, while enjoying your barbecues and vacations and swimming pools and quality time with your families, remember those who have sacrificed everything so that we could continue to do so.

It's a day to remember too those that are harms way.  Our airmen, soldiers, sailors and Marines risk death every day, not only at the hands of our enemies but also simply by doing their jobs, jobs that by their very nature can never be made safe. Remember them today, Memorial Day, and the sacrifice so many of them have made

What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories.

George Eliot

We also use Memorial Day to also honor family members who have died, not just servicemen and women.  There are many in my family that I'll be remembering and missing this day.

On this Memorial Day, let us pray for peace and may all those remembered deep in our hearts be in our thoughts and prayers.

Somewhere, for everyone, there is that person, who, inside their mind , carries the memories of a person's soul  so that they might never be forgotten, and in that, we are all immortal.

Julie Randolph

I'm sending you best wishes for a Happy Memorial Day!

Great reminder for us to take a moment or two and pause today to remember those that gave their lives for our freedom. We were up at the cemetery where hubby's parents are buried (military cemetery). We didn't realize it but they were having a memorial service in honor of Memorial Day; this was yesterday. Next year we're going to have to plan to attend if we can. Won't be able to attend any today since I'll be working :)

may yours be a nice day!

Ma, Happy Memorial Day and forgive me for not posting some kind of remembrance. I feel bad that I didn't but hope those who know me will understand how easy it is to overlook something. I've not slept well for several weeks. Usually we did something special for Memorial Day. But this time, with so much going on and being so tired we were unable too- just didn't have the energy. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it. Johnny does too, says to tell you thank you.
