Chapter 12, Page 7, Book 11

Are you willing to BELIEVE that love is the strongest thing in the world - stronger than hate, stronger than evil, stronger than death - and that the blessed life which began in Bethlehem nineteen hundred years ago is the image and brightness of the Eternal Love? Then you can keep Christmas.

Henry Van Dyke

Christmas is supposed to be a time of peace, love and goodwill to all. But with all the stress and commotion of the season, many of us end up feeling more like Mr. Scrooge than Santa Claus.  Advent is a good time to make sure that our hearts are set right.  None of us wants to be a Mr. Scrooge or even a Mr. Grinch.  It's hard to be like Santa some days.

When my children were growing up I told them that it was very important that no matter how old they got they should always BELIEVE in Santa.  Santa is the Spirit of Christmas...  The real Santa was St. Nicholas who lived long ago and was know for the many gifts he lovingly gave to poor needy.  That is the true spirit of Christmas.

I read this little story yesterday and had to share it today.

Two women were having lunch in an elegant hotel and were approached by a mutual friend who asked the occasion for the meal.
One lady replied, We are celebrating the birth of my baby boy.
But where is he, inquired the friend.
Oh, said the mother,  you didn't think I'd bring him did you?

What a picture that made of the way the world too often treats Jesus at Christmas.

Say Merry Christmas with a smile and you'll keep the the Spirit of Christmas alive because  the real spirit of Christmas is in you and in me,

Have a WONDERFUL Wednesday everyone!

JUST BELIEVE

That was a good story about the two ladies at lunch, a good reminder about us to remember to celebrate Jesus as we are celebrating Christmas! I hope your preparations are going well for Christmas Day, Ma!

If not for the spirit of Santa Claus & the Birth Of Jesus, all would be lost on this day. I'm old school, make what you, write promisary notes for trade or switch chores with one another for gifts. Then, just spend the day celebrating the joy of togetherness. Hugs. tammy
