Chapter 8, Page 13, Book 11

Drop a pebble in the water
Drop a pebble in the water,
just a splash, and it’s gone;
But there's half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,

Spreading, spreading from the center,
flowing on out to sea.
And there is no way of telling
where the end is going to be.

Drop a pebble in the water;
in a minute you will forget,
But there's little waves a-flowing
and there's ripples circling yet,

And those little waves a-flowing
to a great big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river
just by dropping in a stone.

Drop an unkind or careless word:
in a minute it is gone;
But there's half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,

They keep spreading, spreading,
spreading from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them,
once you've started the flow.

Drop an unkind or careless word:
in a minute you forget;
But there's little waves a-flowing,
and there's ripples circling yet.

And perhaps in some sad heart
a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,
And disturbed a life that was happy
where you dropped that unkind word.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness:
just a flash and it is gone;
But there is half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,

Bearing hope and joy and comfort
on each splashing, dashing wave,
Till you wouldn't believe the volume
of the one kind word you gave.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness:
in a minute you will forget;
But there's gladness still a-swelling,
and there's joy circling yet.

And you've rolled a wave of comfort
whose sweet music can be heard,
Over miles and miles of water
just by dropping one kind word.

Kindness engenders kindness. Encountering good, thoughtful people makes me want to be a good person, too. Kindness really is contagious

Maybe it’s complimenting the store clerk on her great haircut. Sometimes just a smile can go a long way in brightening a person’s day. Hopefully, no matter the act, our consideration will be a gift that keeps on giving

How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it.

G. Elliston

When people are kind to us, it makes any day more pleasant and enjoyable

If you've ever heard someone say, That made my whole day, that fits pretty well with this sentiment.

Time changes things and sometimes what I'm seeing makes me wonder what went wrong. Common kindness is needed more and more.

Kindness is the golden chain by which society is bound together
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I hope your Saturday is touched by a little kindness and you have a SUPER day!

Oh I so agree...where has kindness gone. It's so sad. However I think if we all do start doing our part, it could change. It's so sad to seldom hear people even say "thank you" or "please" anymore. Hope you have a wonderful day.

I LOVED that about the pebble. I try to make others feel good, particularly cashiers or waitresses. I always tell 'em to have a nice day, when they get home. I can't tell you how many smiles it brings.
