Chapter 3, Page 1, Book 11

Help other people to cope with their problems and your own will be easier to cope with.

Terrific 2's Tuesday!

I certainly hope that the old adage In like a lamb, out like a lion isn't true for the month of March. Today is a quiet day weatherize. We are in the 40's and much of our snow is now gone. We may even see a little sunshine ! So here in northern Ohio March came in like a lamb. Time will tell how true the saying is.

As most of you have heard a state of emergency has been declared in New Zealand and the Prime Minister has requested two minutes silence be observed today 12.51 PM New Zealand time. Please pray for the people of Christchurch, the emergency services, volunteers, Salvation Army and other Christian help organisations as they give aid and ministry to the those who have been effected by the earthquake.

This is New Zealand’s worst disaster in living memory in cost of lives. Your prayers are much appreciated. Disasters can happen to anyone at anytime. Nature and circumstances like this are not in our control. It's how we deal with whatever comes our way that matters.

A week from today will be Shrove Tuesday which is also known as Pancake Tuesday and Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday. It refers to the day before Lent starts. and since Lent always starts on a Wednesday, the day before is always a Tuesday. Once again our thoughts turn to what we might give up for Lent. My list has been the same for several years and it is one of the best I've ever found.

WHAT TO GIVE UP . . .
Give up complaining. . . . . . . .focus on gratitude.
Give up pessimism. . . . . . . . . become an optimist.
Give up harsh judgments . . .think kindly thoughts.
Give up worry. . . . . . . . . . . . . trust Divine Providence.
Give up discouragement. . . . .be full of hope.
Give up bitterness. . . . . . . . . . turn to forgiveness.
Give up hatred. . . . . . . . . . . . . return good for evil.
Give up negativism . . . . . . . . .be positive.
Give up anger. . . . . . . . . . . . . .be more patient.
Give up pettiness. . . . . . . . . . .become mature.
Give up gloom. . . . . . . . . . . . . .enjoy the beauty that is all around you.
Give up jealousy. . . . . . . . . . . .pray for trust.
Give up gossiping. . . . . . . . . . .control your tongue.
Give up sin. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . turn to virtue.
Give up giving up. . . . . . . . . . . hang in there!

That is my 2 for Tuesday! Nature and Lent...

I do hope your Tuesday is a terrific one!

Give up - yes they are good reminders. Still cold here but some signs of Spring in buds on some trees. So much constant rain that garden is flooded though.
Not complaining though, we have no earthquakes.

Praying for all those affected by the earthquake! What a great list of things to give up! We'd all be so much better off if we'd do this. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I love the lists of "give up". It's still cold here too and suppose to be even colder tonight. Not much snow gone here yet. And like you I'm hoping March doesn't go out like a lion because if we have a nice March 1st, it usually does. Hope you have a wonderful day. Hugs
