Chapter 1, Page 21, Book 11

Money doesn’t buy happiness – never has, never will. There are just as many unhappy rich people as there are unhappy poor people. Many times the only difference is they trade troubles.

Today is Fantastic Friday!

I've always lived a frugal life. As a child we lived simply but never really lacked anything. As mom of a large family we always had to budget carefully, then as a widow living on a limited budget I had to count my pennies too.

Living simply is blessing and even if circumstances mean that you can have everything you want, to simplify will make your life happier too. When we have too much stuff, life becomes more and more complicated.

Simplicity is a beautiful thing

Simpler meals – which would be physically healthier
Simpler lifestyles – which would be financially healthier
Simpler days – which would be mentally healthier
Simpler evenings – which would be emotionally healthier

Living simply can be summed up by 3 simple words: Planning, Patience and Prayer.

Planning: Whether it is what’s for dinner, what the kids will need to wear for the next season or what to give for Christmas, birthday’s, or mother’s day, it’s best to have a plan well in advance. This gives you time to give your best, and also to look for what you want at the best price.

Patience: When you decide you want or need something, act like a grownup. Don’t buy it on the spot. Shop around, read reviews, ask questions. Being willing to wait will save you thousands over the course of a year. Pushy sales tactics create a sense of urgency and panic in the buyer. They want to make you feel if you don’t buy now, it will be gone forever. Walk away from those kinds of situations!

Prayer: God doesn’t want us to fear or worry, but to trust Him. I can’t tell you how many times I have had a need, I have prayed about it, and found a way to get what was needed.

Today is a FANTASTIC one for me...I'm a simple person and so very thankful for it. I hope today is a FANTASTIC one for you too.

So true! If we would all follow this great advice everything would be so much better. I have made several mistakes by not following this advice!

So very, very true. I agree with Hollie, if we followed this advice, the economies wouldn't be as they are. I've made mistakes as well during the years, however hopefully learnt from them. Have a wonderful day. Hugs

Lots of good stuff here. We try to put some in operation, but are not always successful.

We have made it our life to live frugally. Even when it was not necessary, we did it for the future. It worked.

Take care, we all should live simpler lives.

Take care.
