Chapter 11, Page 21, Book 09

GIVING IS A BLESSING

GIVE time and attention to making those around you happy. The kinder you are to others, the happier you will be. There is never a time when kindness is inappropriate. The magic of kindness is that it not only makes others happy; it also makes us feel happy

From the baby to the elderly, everyone wants love. Sometimes, a simple smile can make a world of difference... someone who didn't think they mattered may feel special because you took the time to stop and chat, or to really listen to them, or hold the door open for them at the supermarket.

Vocally express your affection and appreciation to your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, teachers and other individuals you interact with throughout the course of the day.

A thoughtful gift we can GIVE to our loved ones is to listen with our heart, to understand and accept rather than to judge, and to stay open to learning rather than to protect against being hurt

GIVE thoughts of cheer or words of comfort, sympathy, and hope. If a friend could use a helping hand or listening ear, GIVE your attention. Try to listen more. GIVE advice when asked or offer your forgiveness

Remember too that laughing together as a family is one of the most precious experiences in life

Like time and money, attention is a resource that shouldn't be squandered. The holidays are an especially good time for everyone to remember that in our distraction-filled world, GIVING someone your undivided attention may be the best gift of all

Enjoyed your entry. It is so true that joy and contentment come easy during those times of being with others, laughing with them, encouraging them, taking stock in them, praying with them, hoping with them...on and on and on...I guess that is why "love" is such a good thing and why God is love. It is just all tapestry.

hope you had an enjoyable time with your family today, Ma! so true about giving attention to our loved ones; and undivided too; not trying to do 2-3 things at once, but just sitting and listening and talking and looking someone in the eye when they talk
