Chapter 3, Page 16, Book 09

The Guy in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you King for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that guy has to say.
For it isn't your Father or Mother or Wife
Who judgment upon you must pass.
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.
He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum
And think you're a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

PROVERB FOR TODAY

As water reflects your face,
So your mind shows what kind of person you are

Proverbs 27: 19

GOOD MORNING !

I do hope your weekend was a good one. I had a great one as we had some sun and warmer temps. It is very unusual for us this time of year. St. Patrick’s is tomorrow and the forecast says 60 degrees and mostly sunny. Very often we have a big snow storm around this date.

I’m just thankful for the blessing and enjoying it for sure. We cannot outguess the weather. None of knows what tomorrow will bring so we just try to do the best we can with what we can when we can.

In doing a little search on our Proverb for today I find that the word mind and heart seem to mean the same thing here. One translation uses one word while another translation uses the other.

If our hearts/mind are aimed at something which God gave us a heart for then we will do it well. If we are not doing something from the ‘heart’, then we are easily discouraged.

So if we wonder why we feel discouraged maybe it is because our hearts are not in it at all. A simple life doing what we love is much better than a rich life with a ton of headaches.

TODAY’S BLESSING

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields and,

Until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand

‘On Ya’- ma

Since you have to do the things you have to do,

be wise enough to do some of the things you want to do.

The weather is lovely today here also. The trees are starting to bud, this is the time of year I love. Just wish I felt better, the antibiotics have done nothing for my ears which still feel awful. Oh well, at least we have the doors and windows open. Happy week my friend.

Glad you had a nice weekend. So did I. The weather is warming up here, the snowing is melting and I quilted a whole lot on the weekend.

More great words of wisdom.

Glad to read Ma that the weather has got a lot better for you and pray that the late snow storm stays away this year..At last the spring has really come to the us here in the village of Box (and all around us !!) The daffs are all out the entry into Bath is awash with their colour. Even the early cherry blossom is out on the trees...mind you stil cold at night we had a little white on the roof this morning, but soon went when the sun got to work.
Much Love Sybil xx
