Chapter 12, Page 2, Book 08

Christmas
is a time of love,
A time of joy and cheer.
Christmas is a peaceful time,
That wondrous time of year.
A time of faith, a time of hope,
Of friendships much more true;
Christmas is a joyous time
When love shall come to you.
Christmas is a little child.
It's tinsel shining bright,
Frosted windows, snowy lanes,
Candles in the night.
It's Santa Claus and dreams come true,
So much that gladness sees;
It's holly wreaths and silver bells
And star-tipped Christmas trees.
Christmas is a place called home...
A door thrown open wide;
A crackling fire all aglow
And loving hearts inside.
It's happy faces, shining eyes,
Soft music in the air;
It's tissue, ribbon, cards to write
And secrets everywhere.
Christmas is a lighted church...
The very nicest part,
Believing in a special way
A prayer that fills your heart.
It's friendliness so much more real,
A blessing from above;
Christmas is the special time
We greet the folks we love.

GOOD MORNING !

I’m really trying to get the Christmas Spirit rolling here. Yesterday was a long tiring one and I even had to work over as the boss had to go out on business.

I put up my tiny little pre-lit tree yesterday evening and so now I have my tree and my Advent wreath out. I still haven’t found the cards, but I won’t give up yet, as there is time to get them all out.

I have a friend (who doesn’t read my journal) that is a grump when it comes to Christmas. She is a bah-humbug type of person and although she will joke about it does very little in the way of celebrating Christmas. I make her play Christmas songs on our dulcimers starting in October. We only meet once a month so that’s only 3 times we get to play them before Christmas is over. Well anyway she called yesterday saying how she’s not participating in the office Christmas party where she works. I told her one of these days I’m going to wear her down and she’ll love it.

I can only hope!

I cannot for the like of me figure out what there is not to celebrate about Christmas.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

As we struggle with shopping lists and invitations, compounded by December's bad weather, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation, and people to whom we are worth the same.

Donald E. Westlake

Love so easily understands

What you can see is the smallest part;

You don't need Christmas in your hands

When you have Christmas in your heart

Hey, for years I was rather depressed during the Christmas season. One big reason was that we always ended up in debt trying to buy for everybody.

Once we stopped doing that, I began getting the Christmas spirit.

That was a beautiful poem. I love
Christmas and Easter because it
celebrates the birth and resurrection of our Lord. I hope your friend can see that we have
already received the greatest Gift
of all.

Well we have our lounge decorated, still got bits to do elsewhere, then it will be ready for the switch on Friday evening. I just love the glow of Christmas lights at this depressing and dark time of year.

I too can't understand not being in the Christmas spirit. There are so many children who have so little and if you help one or two of them you feel so much better. I have known people who say "it's just another day" That is so wrong, it is a very special day and season. Blessings to you and have a good week. Maybe you can get through to your friend this year.

you have to wonder if there is something in your friend's past that made her "give up" on celebrating Christmas; poor lady; how much joy she is denying herself with her attitude :(

loved the poem at the top of your journal; such a festive one :)
